Almost Finished!

March 5, 2014

I'm moving along on my Santa rug!!
Once finished, I will age it with walnut dye.
Colors do appear much brighter than they are.

This mat just needs binding.
Sure wish I had an old bench this size to cover.

If you're a lover of scones try this quick and easy recipe!
You can use any dried fruit!
I hate to admit that I just ate two with a hot cup of tea. Yum!

Ingredients

2 cups Original Bisquick
1/3 cup finely chopped dried apricots
 3 tablespoons sugar
 1/3 cup whipping (heavy) cream
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
 2 tablespoons sugar

Heat oven 425. Grease cookie sheet. Mix Bisquick, apricots,
3 tablespoons sugar, the whipping cream and egg until soft dough forms.
Turn dough onto surface dusted with Bisquick; roll in Bisquick to coat.
Shape into ball; knead 10 times.

Pat dough into 8-inch circle on cookie sheet (if dough is sticky, dip
fingers into Bisquick). Brush dough with milk; sprinkle with
2 tablespoons sugar. Cut into 8 wedges but do not separate.

Bake about 12 minutes or until golden brown; carefully separate wedges.
Serve warm.

Have a Happy Day!
xoxo Louise

  6. Louise,
LOVE your Santa rug. How do you age it? Walnut crystals? Walnut dye you've made? Do you spot dye areas of immerse the whole thing? I've never done it and am most curious.
    Happy hooking :)

  7. I make my dye with walnut crystals. Keep it in a small spray bottle in the refrigerator. I spray the areas I want to darken.
    Thanks for stopping by!

Your rugs are gorgous! I've never used walnut dye on a rug but it's a good idea for making it look old. Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs, Lori
